Thursday, 23 Oct 2025 {CBB} Reports indicate that the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, will return to Kismayo, the interim capital of the Jubbaland Administration.
According to informed sources, the President will have a private meeting with Ahmed Madoobe, where he will discuss the current year’s conflict between the Federal Government and the administration.
The meeting, which will be the second in a month between President Hassan Sheikh and Ahmed Madoobe, is expected to reach an agreement that will resolve the existing conflict.
President Hassan Sheikh has previously stressed that free and unanimous elections should be held in Kismayo, so that the people of Jubbaland regions can enjoy their rights.
Reports indicate that President Ahmed Madoobe will hold local council elections with one person and one vote, and will implement the Federal Government’s plan.
The Kismayo meeting is being hosted by neighboring governments, led by Kenya.
On October 5, President Hassan Sheikh traveled to Kismayo for two days, where he met with Ahmed Madobe, but the meeting ended inconclusively and another round of talks was scheduled.
